IWSG-November 2018

The Insecure Writers Support Group, IWSG, was started by Alex J. Cavanaugh in an effort to assist writers from all stages, those unpublished to bestsellers, with overcoming their writing fears, struggles, doubts, and concerns. IWSG is about writers helping other writers through encouragement, and community support.

The first Wednesday of each month, IWSG posts an optional question to its members.  Each month’s question has several amazing co-hosts. November’s co-hosts are, Ellen @ The Cynical Sailor, Ann V. Friend, JQ Rose, and Elizabeth Seckman. Feel free to drop by their blogs and see what they are up to.

November Question of the Month: Has your creativity in life evolved since you began writing?

Yes, whether it’s gardening, trying a new recipe or looking at an old problem in a new way, writing definitely influences creativity in all areas of my life. I often find myself using words I don’t normally use when I’m having a conversation with someone. Testing them to see how they sound. Do they ring true or sound forced?

Morning Pages have the greatest impact on my everyday life. I work through problems, pray, write blogs, tell stories. If I write nothing else, I stay true to my Morning Pages. They give me courage to move forward, opportunity to “sound off” in a safe place, and have a mysterious way of working miracles.

November Progress Report

Speaking of Morning Pages, they are the only thing I’ve written since my October IWSG report. I take that back. I did attend my Plein Air Writing class in October and wrote for about an hour there. I’m not sure why but I had no desire to sit down and write the entire month of October.

I had a great time though. I hung out with a friend I’ve known for 62 years! I had a wonderful visit with family and started an new healthy eating lifestyle, walked for Alzheimer’s, saw a whale breach, rode my bike, and sat on the beach. Just writing this energizes me. But, I need to post this before Wednesday becomes Thursday, and it’s time for bed. So hears to taking a month off.
